Our brief was to design a chair that is extremely durable for both indoor and outdoor use; while ensuring it is safe for children to play with and resistant to breakage. Inspired by the simplicity of tubular floats found in children's swimming pool areas, we laminated them in various dimensions to create a stick-like formation for the chair. This design offers dynamic geometry and can be placed in any indoor or outdoor setting. Additionally, its lightweight nature allows it to float on water.
We began this project by examining the tree log cutting industry for wood manufacturing, with the intention of creating a soft geometry that retains the appearance of stacked log tree trunks.
