OCAMOCAM 3D PRINTED Eco Resort Village
Date
2017
Location
Ocamocam Beach, Phillipines
This project represented a groundbreaking endeavour by our esteemed Italian client, who acquired a stunning tropical island in the Philippines. We approached the design brief with the ambition of creating an unparalleled result, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. The inspiration was derived from the meticulous dissection of a seashell into its constituent components, envisioning a living village as fragmented shell elements.
We explored the unique possibility of 3D printing the entire village, which would save an immense amount of time and manage the complexity of our design's geometry. Had the project succeeded, we would have created the world's first 3D-printed resort, where the main building resembles a Nautilus shell and the rooms resemble parts of the internal spiral geometry. We also utilized a unique 3D printing material that recycles sand, which is simply fragmented seashells, into a mixture that requires no structural reinforcement to achieve the unique geometry of our design.
