UNARCHITECTURE Biosythesis Growth design

Date

2011

As I travel and work in various cities around the world, including Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and London, I have observed numerous abandoned development projects where concrete structures are left unused and deteriorating due to natural elements over time. In this project, we are exploring the possibility of introducing plant growth over these discarded wastelands, allowing nature to dictate the formation.
Within these empty spaces, we aim to introduce tent-like enclosures where the homeless and less fortunate can reside. The criteria for this project are to use minimal financial resources while contributing to the well-being of the less fortunate in our society, providing them with at least a basic shelter. We are also exploring this architectural approach by allowing Mother Nature to handle the aesthetic aspects, utilizing the remnants of financially collapsed projects that were initially too ambitious.
I sometimes feel that architects tend to overthink and overdesign buildings, often ignoring the beauty of allowing natural elements to take their course.
