To celebrate Creazione SUGO co-founder Giulia DiBonaventura's curly hair, this sculptural display objet d'art has nothing to do with functionality. 3D printed entirely in recycled plastic, the elements have to be placed randomly and commanded by the limitations of gravity. Finished with a mixture of Lantau Island beach sand and hand-painted by Kevin, with color gradients recalling the sea of Sicily, it represents the future of sustainable art-furniture.

Over 10 years ago, when Kevin first met Giulia, he fell in love with her curly Mediterranean hair and proceeded to study the conflicted and chaotic geometry of this inspiration. Though it may sound a bit disturbing and unconventional, this provided the brief to create a piece of sculptural furniture that ignores conventional notions of organization, practicality, and standardization. Over the passing years, as their lives transformed as a married couple and eventually having their own child, the design also evolved with the constant advancement of sustainable technology on the planet. Finally realized early in 2021, after one of the longest periods of gestation, "The GIULIA" represents Creazione SUGO's interpretation of what the future of sustainable sculptures should embrace.

3D printed in one piece entirely in recycled G.R.P (graphene-reinforced plastic), this particular entity defies functionality and incorporates the "messiness" of display objects into part of its elliptical structural formation. Finished by hand with Lantau Island beach sand collected from their current residence and gradient painted with colors inspired by the sea of Sicily where their child, Leonardo, was first conceived, "The GIULIA" tells a very personal story of Creazione SUGO. It is necessary to be curated with over 10 years of learned experience and reminds us of the importance of beauty in conjunction with the health of our planet—a belief strongly shared by both Giulia and Kevin and hopefully Leonardo.
